About the Contributors

Angie Chipera writes non-fiction children’s books, and novels for adults and young adults. She enjoys interviewing people to hear about their hobbies and passions. She has published dozens of articles about people in the community.

Jessi Chipera is a resident of Los Alamos and will soon be serving the United States as a member of the Marine Corps.

L. M. Dougherty, author of the novel The Concertmaster: Lure of the Stringed Siren, lives in Los Alamos with her husband and two children. She works as a post-doc in the MST division of LANL.

Henry C. Finney, a Los Alamos poet, has had several of his poems included in the volumes of the Live Poets Society of Santa Fe.

Patricia Doherty Hinnebusch is a poet living in Los Alamos. For 12 years (1980-1992), she published the poetry magazine Orphic Lute, which included works by international contributors.

Wendy Kostora is a Los Alamos resident. As an aspiring children’s book writer, she considers “Star Songs” out her league; however, when 911 happened, she wrote this story for her church in response to that horrible day.

Ken Nebel, a Los Alamos native, works in many media, and especially enjoys watercolor, pen and ink, and colored pencil. Recently, he received a degree in Illustration from Northern Illinois University, and is in the process of becoming a professional children’s book illustrator.

Craig Pawlowski’s cartoon strips have appeared in The Indiana Daily Student of Indiana University and The Communicator, a newspaper of Fort Wayne, Indiana. A pediatrician, he lives in Kokomo, Indiana, with his wife and four children.

Tamara L. Stagg writes articles and short fiction for Christian magazines. She lived with her husband and children on Urban Street during the Cerro Grande fire. A wind shift spared their duplex. She wrote “Ada’s House” shortly after the fire, while trucks carrying charred debris moved past her kitchen window.
