THE CONCERTMASTER

Lure of the Stringed Siren
by
L. M. Dougherty

Now Available!

Logan can hear Jim in the parking lot, fighting the officers like he fights everybody every day. The shouting rips apart the peace of the night. Stepping across the threshold of the motel room, Logan looks down to see a trail of crimson footprints.

None of this day has seemed real. It must be a dream, he decides. A nightmare. This cannot be happening to him. Not to Logan Kossowicz, the violinist, the boy with a future. Logan Kossowicz was headed to Julliard with a full scholarship. After years of waiting, he was finally going to leave Danville behind and begin his meteoric rise as a soloist.

But, now, handcuffs dangle from his thin wrists. They flop with each step. Terrified, he wonders what will happen next. He was supposed to become a renowned virtuoso, commanding stages throughout the world, astounding every audience. But, that was before tonight. Now, he worries. What will become of his dreams? Of all the dreams his father had for him?

He slips into the back seat of a patrol car and slumps as he realizes that dreams cannot begin here. This is where dreams end. This is where hope ends. Everything changes tonight.

WHAT THE READERS ARE SAYING:

"An unforgettable story about self-discovery and overcoming the tragedies of life. [Lure of the Stringed Siren] offers a fresh perspective on a timeless theme."
- Kari Shea, bassoonist of the Annapolis Wind Symphony

"The power of this story lies in its ability to so effectively draw the reader into its fiction and hold them captivated, bearing witness to the pitting of human will and determination against the unforgiving and often unpredictable course of fate and consequence. I was struck by the ease at which the author was able to portray an environment of harsh and cruel human realities all the while preserving throughout a delicate thread of equally real human kindness and hope. This is a very engaging and very human story. It could happen to any of us. And that is what makes it so compelling."
- Robb Mills, Composer / Audio Lead, Stormfront Studios
